What do you see that I don’t?

As part of a large-scale planning commission, we were tasked with developing a derelict outdoor space into a place for citizens to move and meet over the past two years. Because we were unable to be on site long enough for an adequate socio-spatial analysis, we took our fee for “participation formats” and used it in an open call for an artist residency entitled “I see something that you don’t see …” for a total of 3 artistic positions, each of which lived and worked for a month in an apartment provided by our client and researched the planning environment using artistic methods. At the end of the period, there was a joint exhibition for the residents. The result ultimately placed the focus of the planning more on the communality of the place instead of just creating a pure skate park. The guests were Andrea Ziegler (Hamburg), Amentia Siard Brochard (Paris) and the duo Kotzerke & Berens (Dresden/Leipzig).
